Our Mission
Resilient Los Altos is dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods in Los Altos by providing residents with the knowledge, training, and resources needed to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies such as power outages, storms, fires, and earthquakes.
Neighborhood
Block Action Teams
BAT leaders foster community through social events, neighborhood training drills, and supporting post-disaster response efforts, creating stronger, more connected neighborhoods.

Community Emergency Response Teams
CERTS are trained in disaster medicine and search and rescue. They are instrumental in saving lives, mitigating hazards, and providing initial medical care following an emergency event.

Amateur (Ham) Radio Operators
Licensed Ham radio operators are trained to relay critical information between neighborhoods and the City of Los Altos when traditional methods, like power lines, fail.

Our Stakeholders
Resilience depends on a strong network of stakeholders who are ready to support the community during times of need. RLA works with key stakeholders including:
Volunteers (BATs, CERTs, and Ham operators)
Los Altos School District (LASD) and Mountain View Los Altos High School District (MVLA)
Faith-based communities
Healthcare organizations
Local businesses
We also maintain robust partnerships with the City of Los Altos, including both City Council and staff, and the Santa Clara County Fire Department, who are essential to our efforts.
