Holiday Safety Tips

Toddlers: Toddlers are curious explorers and eager to taste and touch everything around them. Avoid small toys that can be swallowed or choked on such as magnets, marbles, disc shaped batteries (sometimes called button batteries), gel beads and toys that expand when exposed to water. Some disc batteries now come coated with a bitter taste which is a good safety measure.

Children Under 8: Young children are active and full of energy, but some toys can present serious risks. Avoid items with sharp edges or points, as they can cause injuries if a child trips or falls. Also, skip toys that shoot, have detachable pieces, or are prone to breaking into sharp fragments. Always choose toys suited to a child’s age, skill, and interest level. If a ride-on toy is on your gift list, make sure to include a well-fitting safety helmet—it’s an essential part of the fun!

Your Pets: Pets are family, too, and deserve a safe holiday environment. While holiday treats may tempt them, some can be txoxic. Chocolate, grapes, raisins, and currants are harmful to both dogs and cats. And while poinsettias, mistletoe, and holly add a festive touch, they can be poisonous to pets if ingested. Keep these plants out of reach to protect your furry friends.

By keeping these safety tips in mind, you can celebrate the holidays with peace of mind and create wonderful memories while keeping yourself and your loved ones safe
